In an attempt to look over some of our rules before the season began (Some of which have never been updated from our first league), I stumbled upon our IR section, and found that not only did it not reflect changes in recent years, but also that it looks like it is one of the sections that has never been updated since at least the beginning of the 2014 season. Here is how it currently reads:
$$ Salary and contract years still counts toward the cap etc.
After our season is over we will have until the determined deadline to remove them from IR or lose them to Free Agency.
I will update it to reflect the voted-on changes from more recent seasons (To include the ability for GMs to bring players back from IR who have been re-activated in real life--voted on in 2019--and the ability to have unlimited IR spots, as voted on in 2021), but given that we are now allowed to bring players back from IR in-season, and given that time period on IR can be as brief as three weeks, I think it makes sense for us also to include the following designations: NFI (Non-Football Injury and Illness List), and PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) (Each of which can often exceed the current real life IR period in length, but are as of yet, not covered in any way for GMs for our purposes). Allowing those players to also fall under a general IR status would allow GMs to open up a roster spot by putting those players (Which cannot be used due to their inability to play/our rigidness that does not allow any player not explicitly on IR only to be placed in the IR spots, or any other spot for that matter). We have had players on rosters who have been diagnosed with cancer, who have blown their fingers off, and who have had to have a leg amputated who were not allowed to be on our IR. That has had a real impact on their ability to compete in this league. Likewise, in researching this issue, we have already allowed several instances of players who were designated with these statuses to be put on IR (Which is a mistake on the part of the commissioners and roster managers for allowing these moves to pass through without sufficient oversight).
It is due to these reasons that I believe a new interpretation of the rule should be enacted to include NFI and PUP statuses to be included in our league's IR rules. Please vote in the poll, as we have only a few weeks to put this into play for this season if it should pass. If it does not pass, I will simply re-write the IR Rules section to reflect the current IR Rules/bring them up to date. If you have any questions or comments as well, please post them below. Thanks again for your time and consideration.
We have 2 IR roster spaces for our upcoming season. At the time you post you must provide a link to one of three reasonably credible sources; NFL.com's Transactions List, the team specific Injury Report from Rotoworld or one of the 32 official team sites that link directly from NFL.com. Once you put a player on IR he is there for the entire season and cannot be dropped or traded etc.
