Dallas Cowboys (Aaron)
Grade: C-
The defending champ had very little in the way of 2021 picks, as he went all in for his 2020 Super Bowl run. Aaron ended up making 2 selections: Davis Mills, who provides insurance for the uncertainty that is Deshaun Watson, and Cornell Powell, a 6th Round WR hoping to find a role in the Chiefs high-powered offense. This is perhaps the most forgettable draft in the NFC, and that’s saying something, considering MIN didn’t make a single pick.
New York Giants (Malachi)
Grade: B-
The success of this draft will boil down to one player: Justin Fields. Seeing how the draft was unfolding at the QB position, NYG made a big move, giving up a 2022 1st to jump from 1.12 to 1.07 to select former Buckeye Justin Fields. #GetYourGuy. If he succeeds, it will have been worth the price, but if he fails, it could set Malachi’s playoff hopes back quite a bit. It was mostly developmental players later on the draft, with Day 3 WRs Ihmir Smith-Marsette and Tylan Wallace, as well as Tre’ McKitty, who looks to prove he is more than the glorified offensive lineman that Georgia used him as. NYG also landed the top defensive selection from the NFL Draft in Jaycee Horn, who should be an immediate starter, albeit at the non-premium position of cornerback.
Philadelphia Eagles (Andrew)
Grade: N/A
Although he made no picks, he turned 2 2nds and a 3rd into Dak Prescott. In other news, the Philadelphia Eagles will be relocating to Orlando next season, because that was some next level Magic.
Washington Football Team (Dave)
Grade: C+
Washington went into the 2021 draft with one glaring need: Quarterback. With 5 QBs taken in the 1st round of the NFL draft, surely he could snag one at 1.17, right? Unfortunately for Dave, 5 QBs were drafted in the top 15 for the first time in CDFL history, so he had to pivot. There were potential improvements to be made at LB, RB, and TE, but instead, he added Elijah Moore to his WR room, strengthening a group that was already the strongest part of his squad. In the 2nd Round, he came away with the first safety taken in the NFL Draft in Jevon Holland. The Oregon product should be an instant starter in Miami, replacing the departed Bobby McCain, but it remains to be seen if his deep safety role will translate into fantasy production. Seth Williams and Jermar Jefferson join crowded positions for the Broncos and Lions respectively, and are more likely headed for the practice squad than the active roster to start their careers.
