You must include the following information in order for the UFA bid to be official:
Player Name (Team-Position) in the subject line and $Dollar Amount/number of years+the letter y affixed at the end
Ex: Calvin Johnson (DET-WR) $1/1y
IN SEASON: In season, you may only open a bid between Tuesday at 8 AM (0800) ET and Friday at 5 PM (1700) ET. If you place a bid too early, you will be suspended from bidding that week. If you place an opening bid too late, it will not be honored. Once posted, the bid will remain open for others to bid up the original bid for 24 hours. At the end of that time, the highest bidder will be awarded the player. If a bid is deemed to have been placed too close to the deadline (within the last hour of bidding), the party that was upbid may request that the bidding period be extended within 4 hours of the end of the original 24 hour bidding period. The bidding extension request must be placed within the thread under the most recent bid by stating "extension requested." The extension will last for 6 hours, and only those GMs placed bids within the original 24 hours period may place bids during the 6 hour extension.
If bidding on a Thursday Night Football player, and you wish to start that player, you need to make sure that your initial bid is posted at least 24 hours before the start of the game. Once a Thursday game kicks off, a bid can not be opened on any of those players until the following week's Free Agency period (beginning Tuesday at 8 AM (0800) ET).
OFF-SEASON: There are no limits during the off-season regarding when a bid can be opened. Just like in season, the bid will remain open for others to bid up the original bid for 24 hours. At the end of that time, the highest bidder will be awarded the player. If a bid is deemed to have been placed too close to the deadline (Within the last hour of bidding), the party that was upbid may request that the bidding period be extended. The league may choose to do so at the discretion of the LMs. There may be some periods of time where UFA is shut down such as when the Rookie draft is taking place. These periods will be announced on the News Feed at the top of the home page, in league wide PMs, or posted in the league's Discussions thread.
PROCESS:
1. A bid will be open at $1 (minimum) for any free agent (as listed on Fantrax). Bids are only to be made in full dollar amounts, and must contain the number of years desired as well (as shown in the example above), so no bids including half or fractions of dollars will be valid. If formatting is not followed correctly, bids will not be valid.
2. There is no maximum amount of money that may be bid on a player (Though GMs may not bid an amount that is greater than their current cap space), but the length of a bid can only reach as high as 4 contract years.
3. You can only start bidding on the number of players that you have the actual roster, salary cap, and contract years space for, regardless of the period (in season or off-season) in which you are bidding. If you exceed this number without noting a withdrawal from bidding on a bid that you are NOT currently leading, waiving a player, or accepting and having a trade approved PRIOR TO making your bid, all bids found to be in violation of this rule will not be honored, and all of your subsequent bids will be canceled.
4. If you don't intend to continue bidding, please indicate so by posting in that thread. This will help to speed up the process.
5. Owners cannot withdraw from bidding if they are the current leading bidder for that player.
