It sounds like so far these are the arguments against the idea
#1 I like the way we have it now. #2 SEA is too good so we should wait to make rule changes until he’s bad.

I think it is an interesting idea and would be a fun wrinkle to throw at the guys who have success over the course of the season and maybe makes them pay attention to the other teams in the playoff race to watch for injuries/guys losing time to other players stuff like that to determine who they might want to play. Who knows a guy might pick a harder matchup if he feels like he can get a threat out early and have easier games moving forward. Nice idea Andrew! I would be down to at least see how it goes

While the idea sounds interesting I am not sure if I am totally sold on it, however what if the top two teams get a bye in the first round of the playoffs. Doing that wouldn't the playoff schedule, but it reward the top teams and give them the opportunity to "rest" players as Andrew said.

We used to have it that way but then we expanded the playoff field to 16 teams. In order to give out byes to 4 teams, you would have to either cut the field down to 12 or expand it to 24. I would be okay with cutting it down but I don’t think we should expand it any further. And I doubt that other people would be on board with cutting it down.

I dont like it. Brackets should work just like the real NFL bracket. No reason to overcomplicate things. Nor do teams who already get a bye week need another competitive advantage.

O. My bad. Fantrax has Seattle with a bye and it had jax with one as well. Looks like someone added Oakland to that matchup now. I didnt realize we had 8 seeds . I'd rather go to the traditional 6 personally . The more like running a real nfl franchise the better imo.

I like it better with the NFL style 6 seeds, but it’s probably in the best interest of the league to keep it at 8 because it keeps owners active for more of the season

Could we do it like college, and only have 4 teams instead? And have them chosen by a panel?

They have the same record now but TB scored more points overall and they never played head to head. So it would still be TB getting into the playoffs. I’m not a master on tiebreakers, but I think TB is eliminated via head to head loss vs. GB. Therefore it would come down to points between GB and DAL, which goes to DAL. Someone correct me if I’m wrong (I very well could be). Looks like they gave the spot to GB.

The rules state that it goes by....
1. Head to head 2. Points 3. Division record
The way that reads to me is that we would eliminate any head to heads first. TB lost to GB so they would be out. GB and DAL are left. Then you would consider points. DAL has more points so they would get in.
It could be argued that TB eliminates DAL based on points and GB eliminates TB based on head to head but that seems like a backward way of doing it when the rules explicitly state that it goes by head to head first.

Head to head only works when all the tied teams played each other. Here they didn't, so it should go to points scored, and whoever of the 3 scored the most should be in. That's how NFL's H2H tiebreaker rule works--it only applies if all the teams involved played each other.
