So, some things happened this week in the greatest show on turf –er, on your computer, and I’m going to tell you about them. Clearly there are no surprises at the top, and nor will there be, unless Andrew can pull off an upset in a matchup between the top-two teams this week (And with a short lineup). As both won, they stay top-2 for one week longer. Jacksonville takes over the new #3 spot with a win over the former #3, Buffalo, who has lost two-straight, and now leads the AFC East division over the New York Jets by less than 4 points, and drops four spots to #7. Minnesota, Pittsburgh, and Cincinnati move up one spot as well after wins to occupy the 4-6 range. Carolina stays in 8th after a stat-corrected win over Detroit, who falls out of the top-10 to 12th, despite being 6th in scoring. The Jets stay in 9th place, and Houston rounds out the top-10, rising one place after beating New England.
The Chargers occupy the 11th spot, representing a climb of two spots, after beating up on Cleveland to open up a two-game lead on the rest of the AFC West field. Baltimore also climbs two to slot in to 13th. Oakland fell two spots to 14th after a loss to Cincinnati. Indianapolis is the largest mover this week, rising 7 spots into 15th after beating Miami by over 40. Tampa drops one to round out the top-half. Miami also falls one place, and New Orleans climbs one, despite starting inactives in a big win (Also over another team starting inactives in Chicago). Denver falls two spots after a loss to PIT, and LAR climbs four spots to 20th after walloping Dallas, and keeping his chances of winning the division mathematically alive.
In the twenties, despite a loss, Cleveland suffers no negative movement, though Arizona plunges four to 22nd, directly below him, and is now eliminated from division contention. Dallas stays in 23rd, as do Tennessee, Washington, Kansas City, and Atlanta behind them. Green Bay jumps three spots to 28th, and New England and Chicago each slide one spot due to losses. San Francisco climbs out of the cellar for the first time since Week 4. After his loss, NYG is the new name at the bottom of the rung.
With four weeks remaining in the regular season, the division races are heating up. I will be making a Division and Playoff Race post momentarily, as well as updating the weekly Inactives Report. And if you’re intentionally starting inactives to tank and secure a higher draft slot, please know that one of the punishments we’ve used in the past is knocking the pick associated with that team down the draft board accordingly to the number of games lost/thrown. So please set your lineups folks, or face potential punishment or removal from the league.
