Hey guys, I don't know how many of you would be interested in this, but my dynasty/fantasy opus (well, it was my opus and then they required that I cut it by 3,600 words, but that's another story) on why the draft's top QB was drafted in the 5th Round was just published. Here's the link: rotoviz.com/2016/06/88080/Let me know if you have any feedback, comments or criticisms, on the piece as I'd like to hear them. Thanks!

Interesting and nice job digging into the specifics and coming up with a deep sleeper down the road. Andy Reid loves his QBs and can spot a diamond in the rough that has potential.

I most took issue with the fact that people were disregarding him because he didn't put up prodigious stats (in an offense where that wasn't really possible because of their commitment to the run game and the fact that their pace was one of the slowest in college football) and because he throws funny. In fact, I think changing his arm angle actually hurts him as a prospect and worries me a bit, because 1. with too much tinkering, many players, regardless of sport, lose their way and what got them there, and 2. I think that negatively affected his combine velocity, because the guy I see on tape has elite or near-elite arm strength, not a guy who registers 53 mph. like he did at the combine a week or two into the change (also, whoever are his trainer/agent should be fired for suggesting that with such a short turnaround).
But thanks Goose. Honestly, I found him while looking for the best quarterback in this draft class after it was set in stone that I would pick #4, and after I watched tape and ran the numbers on the top-10 guys, he was by far the best (IMO, there's a lot of tape bias on there). Ultimately, I would have felt confident taking him #1 overall if I had that pick and if it made sense to fantasy-wise (Matt, Cecil (I think) and Ryan are the only three that can attest to this). But I was actually really discouraged by his landing spot, if only because, he won't play year-1 without an Alex Smith injury and beating out Aaron Murray. If, however, he had landed in a Cleveland or Buffalo (especially as Cleveland mentioned having a sabermetric-friendly QB higher than Goff or Wentz, I started seeing the stars align and thought it was him, or Bills, whose GM talked up how he would consider taking Hogan in the 2nd Round), two teams that brought him in for one of their 30 official draft visits, I would have absolutely thought he would beat out RGIII or Tyrod in camp (a la Russell Wilson). But alas, it wasn't to be. His long-term outlook from that standpoint is pretty good, you're right Goose, but he certainly wasn't worth a pick in our rookie draft given that factor. Hopefully Reid and Alex Smith can help to groom him for starting duty two years down the road.
