N.O. Gets A.J. Green (CIN-WR) $4.5/1y Tyler Higbee (LA-TE)
BUF gets Jordan Reed (WAS-TE) $4/3y JAX 2nd 2016 PIT 3rd 2016
This trade is a joke if it passes. One of the top receivers in the league for a TE that is OK and a few picks. If this passes I know the TRC is just rubber stamping trades.

I think this is a much better trade when you look at it closer. Reed put up better numbers than Green last year and Cousins targets him a ton. Reed is also in a much better contract. Green has the name but Reed put up the better numbers from a position you don't normally get that type of production. I kinda like it for buffalo given it really spikes his te numbers

I prefer the Reed side in Sals situation. Green isn't the top 3 WR he used to be. He's more of a top 10 guy. Jarvis Landry was the 7th best receiver last year and if I had posted this deal sub Landry for Green I don't think there would be any conversation.

Okay since it is out there, I am not on the TRC and what I say should not have any baring on the trade outcome. I would have given the trade a go. If the TE Thug would have been there early in the 3rd, I was going to take him.

A top WR for a top TE seems fair to me. Good TEs are more rare than good WR so they should be more valuable.
That being said, there's no way reed stays healthy enough to keep up his production from 2015 but if he does then it'll be a good deal for BUF

I know that this is a bit off topic, but I feel pretty passionately about this kind of thing. I don't know that he's necessarily a thug, as JR said (and I'm not picking any bones with JR, because I know that he's just passing along what others have said and I know how he meant it). Based on the details of the case that have been made public at least, I would have beaten the bejesus out of him too, or at least threatened to unless he left us alone. I've just seen it too many times before be misreported as "the raging dumb jock goes apeshit on an unsuspecting little civilian for no reason" to believe those headlines until I know for sure.
Those of you who went to Emory & Henry with me know that I was a witness to and covered the Pablo Farkas incident that had similar undertones: a South American tennis player beaten to a pulp by five hulking football players at a party while they hurled racial epithets at him. And all of us know, it did not go down that way. If you ever want to see a botching of a story by the news media, look no further than what the Bristol Herald Courier said happened in that circumstance. They dedicated more time and column inches indicting E&H for their students committing a supposed "hate crime," running editorials about the racism in society, how football should be criminalized or that E&H football should get the death penalty and those students should be suspended, etc. than they ever did vetting suspects, witnesses or 'victims', reading the police report (in just one read-through of the report, our college newspaper staff was able to cite 9 contradictions between the Courier's account of the events and the actual police report) and or running opposing viewpoints to their sensationalized institutional agenda of painting the story as an assault on a poor, unfortunate, hard-working and deserving naturalized citizen. Even when challenged on this by witnesses, including myself, a former employee of BHC, they rebuffed any other story and categorized it as having an E&H agenda or trying to gloss over the truth.
But one thing that doesn't lie are the facts. The fact that Mr. Farkas was saying (and I'm paraphrasing) "it doesn't take 5 strapping football players to hold little old me down, I'm only 5'6" 140 lbs." was accurate. It took 6 (when he was drinking, and I know because I was one of them), as on the same night, he propositioned my girlfriend in Spanish (in front of myself and three other native or conversant Spanish speakers), and then when she had said no three times, he proceeded to say, again in Spanish, "Well I'm going to fuck you anyways," before lunging at her for a kiss. The fact that before the 5 football players took him to the ground and beat the piss out of him, he was insulting one of their girlfriends and then when they approached him about it, he pulled a knife (he says a beer bottle opener, but 1. I doubt he was in the frame of mind to really remember at that time, and 2. I don't think someone is going to make that mistake with a bonfire that lights up the entire field raging 15 feet away). The fact that when he said he experienced so much trauma as a result of the fight (I mean, they did a number on the guy, and his eye didn't heal for nearly 2 months) that he had to miss classes was pure and utter bullshit, as he attended at least twice as many classes after the accident as before. The fact that he had been involved in AT LEAST 4 previous fights, two with girls (though one looked like a guy) at parties in his first 3 weeks at Emory. The fact that they yelled racial epithets at him while beating him up is sadly true, but at some point, who gives a shit? It was absolutely the incorrect behavior, but the fact that he had thrust himself into that situation and had threatened the girlfriend/them didn't really net him any favors, and proves that it wasn't an attack that began because of racial motive. And ultimately, the fact that caused his dismissal from E&H, when they found that he had broken a window to enter a construction project on campus, had caused a severe amount of damage that would set workers back and cost more to repair and was urinating on the inside of the site when he was discovered. That fact finally forced the paper to investigate him further, where they found that he had three previous convictions (quashed of course), one drug related, one DUI on a bicycle and the other I can't recall, all in high school, which made him ineligible for entry to the school that, because he was the #2 ranked tennis player in the nation, forked over every bit of academic and whatever they want to call the non-scholarship athletic scholarships for D-III money, to sign. And so, there was one small post that basically said, "whoops, our bad, BUT not really because it's the kid's fault and he obviously has problems and we hope he gets the help he needs, the end (Great piece of misdirection there)." And just like that, it was all good again and people forgot...except for the school, the students and players (who were prematurely suspended), who had one of their only party houses shut down because of how it looked for the landlord who rented to those racist, partying college students, saw their admissions drop in half the next semester and were never offered an apology of any kind whatsoever. So, forgive me if the way the Higbee incident was originally reported on doesn't sit well with me. I've just seen it too many times before (ask me about the Virginia Tech incident if you really want to hear some shit, because this is nothing compared to that) to believe that kind of crap before all the facts come out.

Wow, I would of never thought this would of brought out all of this. I rescind my comment and think that NO is overpaying for Green. I am sure Reed will put up much bigger numbers than Green since Dalton will be back and play all 16 games this year, that will definitely diminish Green's numbers since McCarron is a much better QB. Reed on the other hand with DeSean playing the whole year will have much more opportunities along with all those rookies they drafted at WR should draw attention away from him so he should probably double his targets.
I looked at the situation not the name.

The reason I approved was solely based on GM reputation. I too thought this was giving Green away very cheap but I'm not going to Veto a trade where the GM is question has been around for some time now and clearly has a grasp on the league.

You can have your opinion and if you were on the TRC I would expect you to veto it. I personally really like aj green and I think he is a top 10 dynasty wr. I also like jorden reed and I think he is a top 3 dynasty tight end . I had the depth at wr to make a deal to get what I felt would produce high end wr2 numbers at a position with very few top end options. Did i overpay? Yes I agree that I did but how does that hurt the league? I still have one of the best rosters in the league and I just helped a mid-low end team get a stud wr to rebuild around and imo helped myself in the process

He was a product of WAS having no one to throw to so he got a ton of targets, but it does not matter. The reason I never took a position on the TRC is due to the fact I would veto a lot of trades. Usually I do not voice my opinion, but it just seems that the TRC is rubber stamping trades and I thought this was blatant. Whatever I am sure it will work out for both teams.
