10 Weeks down and 2 to go in this regular season, and things are heating up all across the board. Several division races got more interesting this week, and several teams got sized for their division crowns in Week 10. Seattle, Pittsburgh, Minnesota and Philadelphia all won their divisions this week, meaning only half of the division races still mean anything. However, Carolina’s loss to a previously moribund Atlanta team means that New Orleans still remains alive, and the Los Angeles Chargers’ loss to Kansas City leaves things open for Oakland and the Chiefs themselves. Houston and Buffalo are on top of their respective divisions, but those division races are rife with potential contenders and come-from-behind possibilities.
The top-10 remained basically intact once again, as only two teams exited (Oakland and New England, who were #9 and 10 respectively the week prior). Entering in their place were resurgent Bills and Jaguars teams. The middle tier started to separate, as now 5 teams are 6-4 and 9 teams are 5-5, but the bottom became a little more convoluted as Atlanta jumped several 3-win teams, as the Los Angeles Rams and the New York Giants both won in slight upsets.
Chicago still ranks below every 4-win team, despite being 5-5, because of their putrid score this week, and 2-win Atlanta is similarly now above every 3-win team, because of points and recent results, making for an interesting divide at 24/25. The bottom-3 remained unchanged, and Tampa Bay is still defeated. The largest climber this week was LAR with a +5, and the biggest fallers were Indianapolis, Washington and Miami, with -4 each.
Perhaps the most interesting games this week were the final two that were decided: Jacksonville getting a key division win over Tennessee on an Ed Dickson touchdown, and Pittsburgh’s thrilling last-minute victory over Cincinnati (Chris is now 0-5 all-time against Garrett, and only once was the game more than 10 points) on a garbage time Jay Cutler TD.
If you still don’t like where you are right now, you only have the two weeks to get into the playoffs and see what happens. I will do playoff scenarios in a separate post starting this week and running through the conclusion of the regular season. As always, these rankings were based on the previous week’s PRs, as well as the point totals/results of this week’s games (Which includes teams intentionally or unintentionally throwing games by not setting their lineups).
