So, since the QB discussion thread and Seattle saying Cincinnati should be invalid in his attempts to get Hogan, shouldn't Seattle be invalid for his bids on Peterman since he currently has a starter? Just saying

While it does seems hypocritical on the surface, it seems that the current rule states that we must refer to Rotoworld depth charts. At the time of the bid, Tyrod was listed as the starter, but as of now, that has been switched. The question is, do we honor the bid that was legal at the time, or is it invalid since Rotoworld has now been updated? I have no dog in the fight, but that’s what it boils down to.

It's the same situation that I was in with Hogan exactly. I think that's what Steve was trying to point out.

Then yes, hypocritical given the very vocal disapproval of this action by Chris, but a legal move nonetheless. Funny how things work out.

It was clearly pointed out to me that my interpretation of the rule was wrong in the Hogan signing. This is exactly the same as the Hogan signing and I would not pursue Peterman if the Hogan ruling was different. In the Hogan decision it was also clearly stated "when the bid was placed he was not named the starter", which is the same as when I placed the bid on Peterman. I am not sure a ruling is necessary on the legitimacy of this bid, but however it is decided it would be best if there is consistency.

Nathan Peterman - QB - Bills
Coach Sean McDermott announced rookie Nathan Peterman will start Week 11 against the Chargers.
"We were made to be more than 5-4, and I've come here to be more than 5-4," McDermott said. "Really, it's about becoming a better team. Every position is evaluated and that's the direction I decided to go." Taylor and the entire offense is coming off a horrendous Week 10 against the Saints, but that was his first bad game at home. Peterman came in late for mop-up work, playing his first 11 snaps of the season. He went 7-of-10 for 79 yards and a score and was handpicked by McDermott and the new regime as a fifth-rounder. He had a nondescript preseason. His first NFL start will be on the road in L.A. against the Bolts. The offense will continue to run through LeSean McCoy.

And if no one actually checked and there's no evidence to the contrary id say the time stamp on the post is our best indication as to when the depth chart was updated and therefore Cecils bid should be nul and void.

I checked for sure, but didn’t screenshot or anything. That was at 4:48 and Tyrod was still the starter.

Tyrod was still #1 on depth chart at the time of the bid. I checked before bidding.

Yeah, Tyrod was still the starter per Rotoworld depth charts when the bid was made. No question.

It really seems like we could do a better job on this rule but I guess that’s gonna have to wait til the offseason.

Agreed, there is room for improvement, but you’re right. Can’t go switching it up only a couple weeks after we allowed the same thing. I have some thoughts on writing the new rule, when the time comes, but that may not be my place.

We will absolutely be working on this goal in the off-season. I will get a group of GMs together to talk about it and figure it out. Thank you for everyone that has input.
