Putting on my best Goodell voice: There has been a trade (motions for the #haters to bring on the boos). With the 4th pick in the Inaugural Canton Dynasty Football League Rookie Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals, picking for the San Diego Chargers select: Corey Coleman (CLE-WR) The Seattle Seahawks (for now) are now on the clock until 11:18 PM ET 5/3 Times like this would be a perfect reason for a Chat Box. Real time chat.
Then we would all have a place to boo Chris (Goodell) as his approached the virtual CDFL Draft podium. I would! Mater of fact, in a lol moment, I did boo.

The only thing I've heard re: this is that it seriously slows down the site, which is bad, which is why we haven't gone to it in the past. But I haven't really heard enough from both sides. Is there any citable data that can prove it does or does not slow down site performance? Other concerns or pros/cons?

I am in two leagues that use two different types. I have never heard that, I will ask.

FYI: both are Proboards leagues, one uses PB Chat Box the other uses other CB.

What is CB as opposed to Chat Box, just so we're clear.

Just subbed CB for Chat Box like I did PB for Proboards, sorry.

Oh okay, my mistake, so what is "other CB" as opposed to PB CB, I believe is the question I was meaning to ask.

I can't access via phone. Once I sign on later, I will let you know. Plus I will have a post asking about any lagging or other problems that I am not aware of.

I have never heard of it hurting activity. It just makes it easier to discuss deals imo. I'm pretty sure we could even place it in a forum as to not congest the home page

Just to bring up a quick question/point
I've been using Groupme in another league and it has been fantastic. Easy to use, able to Direct Message managers easily. Friendly app and website. Just a thought

Yeah, Sal, just so we're clear, I mean the physical performance of the site: i.e. does it run slower. That's what I was referencing, not it slowing down activity. If that's what you meant, my bad, I had trouble figuring it out. Also, it looks like we've got some good testimonials. Trey, you see/experience any such problems with performance? Do things load slower than usual with it as opposed to not having it on the site? If so, that's something we want to avoid. If not, I'm open at least to trying it.
Also, is policing it easy? Is there any way that someone could cloak their identity with it?
Thanks

I'm still all for a chat box. I'm in a baseball and hockey league and both have it. Runs the same speed as this site, I'm not a master measurer of milliseconds though

You can change your nickname, but it usually displays your full name when you Direct message. I have not had any problems with it being slow in the slightest, overall been a very pleasant tool. Was able to get deals done more quickly since its almost like a text message. You can set the app to give you notifications if you want as well. For instance, I am in a 32-team, 2 conf/2copy player pool league. Right now we are doing seperate drafts, so the AFC has their own chatroom that us in the NFC can't see and vice versa. As far as policing, not sure what you want out of that. DMs are private, allowing for trade talks between 2 parties kind of like the messaging system the forum uses, but higher chance of feedback with the notifications and ease of the app. Just a thought/suggestion, been a nice tool in my other league.

I have posted the question in my two other leagues that use them. I have never saw site lagging in either due to it's use. One is the Proboards Chat (I like), and the other uses Chatroll. I don't like it as much. You have to create a new user name and password to sign in. To me, that is just one more username/password you have to remember.
If we were to use the Proboards Chat, it would just show my postings as "Shouting As Indianapolis Colts". Another reason to like it.
As for whatever system is used, I don't care for its use as a way for trades. We have Threads for that. Also (just me), I don't see a need for people to tell you are on the clock for picks. If I can't see I am on, I will not see your message either. That too brings up another problem, if you would post in one of the above, phone users would not see it, again, yet another reason to not post trade talk - use it for what it is worth, a real time chatroom only.
