Glad I could spark the conversation. So we view Witten as worthless but not to NYJ as he insisted on getting him in the trade. He is worth a 1/2 of a 1st rd pick, so does that mean he is a middle of 2nd pick in value? I do not know, but I am sure he was worth more than a 3rd.

Here's my reasoning for my vote on this trade. I have been involved with both NYJ and CAR in discussions going back to the draft about Alshon Jeffrey and Evan Engram. My original offer from CAR was Alshon Jeffrey with his 2018 1st for Mike Williams, which I declined, because I thought his pick would be too late to have much value. I've also made various offers to NY for Engram, including the last offer, just before he accepted this deal, of Mike Williams and Delanie Walker for the same package that L.J. gave up, but he told me that he didn't think Williams would have a big enough early impact to move the needle for him. I can't make that judgment for him, and that's his assessment to make, just as it was to decline at least one other offer that as a TRC member and member of this league for 7 years now, I also would consider superior. Personally, I think that L.J. is leaving a lot of value behind in these trades (especially given that the TRC did set the price on Witten as a 3rd a short time ago, and would seem to be paying quite a bit more for him here, even though as Justin pointed out, it isn't necessarily Engram for Jeffrey and the pick for Witten), even though I was a fan of some of his early moves, but again, it is not my call to make. As he pointed out earlier in this thread, we have prevented him from making moves in the past that have kept him from fielding the team that he wants, and if this is the team that he wants, and we have faith in his ability to run his team, who are we to keep that from happening? If it's not collusion or something so outright deplorable that it alters the structure of the league, I have to approve.

If it is not deplorable or collusion we should accept the trade, then I feel we only need three members on the TRC as then we do not have to go through all this BS with what a player is worth and trades could be put through faster. I vote that we cut down the TRC to 3 members who needs all BS to get a trade processed.

I made the same point for a few years Goose the TRC should only stop collusion. A 3 person TRC is perfect even if 2 of them are involved in the trade it still works if they are impartial. Whoever currently runs the league should not be part of the 3, that way if only 1 member is involved in a trade and the other 2 are split the commish can decide that one.
