Having the 24 hr clock restart after each bid would eliminate last minute bids if you are that concerned about it. Might take a little longer to sign players though. I like PHI style! That's how every other one of my leagues handles auctions.

That's how every other one of my leagues handles auctions. I like it also. This has been a problem since day 1 of this league 7 years ago when you would wake up early in the morning and place bids in the last minute to steal a player and there would be 2-3 other GMs doing the same thing. So to prevent everyone from doing last minute bids extend for 24 hrs after each bid is a great idea and anyone who is out needs to state they are out so that we can process the transaction once everyone is out.

What happens if it's in-season though? You could easily just go back and forth in a bidding war for more than a week and no one would get the player in time for the game.

That's the problem with using pro boards. My other leagues utilize a blind bidding process during the season. Something we can't do in a forum.

We used a blind bidding process in my last league (used proboards) initial 24 hrs of opening bid was to show interest, then interested owners would send blind bids to designated person. Owners only got two bids. If no one showed interested in such player the person would get them. Didn't take more then 2 days for a player to get signed

Thank you for all of the input. I do not anticipate any changes to the bidding process at this time. There is not a flaw in the process and I think it is fine the way it is.
The reason I brought up the "last minute" bidding is just to open everyone's eyes to it. I just don't want people to intentionally wait until minutes left and place a bid.

Go Philly. If you don't like being outbid then step up with a real bid. You just set the framework for losing out if you pussy foot around by putting a small bid out there.
