So once again it's time to broach this annual topic of discussion in this league, as I've had several parties come to me asking to for me to post a Practice Squad poll, and did some research on the Fantrax side that suggests a rather easy alteration and implementation if we decide to go that way. Before I do though, I think it's important to get the best possible form of the argument. So to that end, please do not post about how you hate the idea and rail against it (unless you're making valid points that help us arrive at a better proposal). Leave that for when it's actually time to vote, and if you truly dislike the practice squad idea on merit at that point, feel free to vote it down. However, I can't ever get a good read on how many are in favor or against this idea in any form because we're always arguing about the details. If there are a sufficient amount of voters who want to vote for this, we need to make sure that we are giving them an option that the most possible members agree upon or have had input on, as in the past, some members have voted down polls on the basis of one or two details not being exactly what they want, even if they're for the proposed idea if it better fit their ideas of what it should look like. So let's take this opportunity to decide the following things before we put it to a vote.
1. How many spots would a practice squad consist of?
2. How many years into the league would we allow players to remain on the PS?
3. What would the salary structure look like (or would we require PS players to have a salary at all)?
4. Would there be a claim process (for other teams to make a claim on another team's PS players to sign them to their roster like in real life), and if so, how would it work?
5. How would we handle the claiming of/bidding on/rostering of players in the Rookie Draft, UFA Draft and FA?
6. If we did allow a claim process and two or more teams bid on a PS player, how do we establish who wins the claim (Waiver Order? A separate but similar practice)?
Do not feel obligated to answer all of these questions if you don't want to/have answers or ideas for only a few of them, but if you do have opinions or ideas on these, please give us your whole input. Thanks so much guys (and girl).
