Lady and Gentlemen (Again, welcome to the league Laura. I'm going to have to get used to saying that), we have an urgent matter in need of your votes. In previous seasons, dating all the way back to the MFL, we have always made the distinction that UFA Draft Picks were not tradeable (You could absolutely pick a player and then, once drafted, trade him away, but could not trade the pick itself). Neither myself nor any of the current LMs have ever been given an explanation of why we do this, but it revolves around our Commissioner in the MFL, Mike. Since we have separated from Mike, and public opinion tends to support the ability for us to be able to trade the picks themselves instead of the players selected with the pick, and since we always talk about putting this up for vote but never do, I thought I'd go ahead and do it for us. So here's what it would look like: - Teams would be able to trade UFA Draft picks DURING the UFA Draft only.
- The picks would not be issued prior and no future picks would be issued for the next year's UFA Draft (For now...let's at least give this a chance to work this way if it passes, not only for the sake of it working well but also, shit, let's not seriously overburden our Roster Managers. Baby steps folks).
- Trades would be posted in the Trade Review section as always.
- The picks would not be housed on a team's roster page (Amendable if needed. Feel free to discuss), simply kept track of on the UFA Draft Board.
- The same rules on pick/round time limits apply. So say, for instance, the pick/round you're trading/trading for is about to expire, please keep in mind that you may be jumped during the time period that the trade is in the TRC, or you may lose the ability to take the pick altogether if the round expires first.
That's all I can think of for right now, but I feel like I'm forgetting a lot of stuff. I can add and repost if needed. But basically, it comes down to, do you want us to be able to trade UFA picks (as opposed to simply trading the player drafted with that pick after the fact). If so, vote yes, if not, vote no. Thank you all.

I almost voted no for the simple reason of not being able to trade UFA Picks outside of the UFA Draft. My opinion, it could open more trading if open before UFA Draft.

If you allow trading outside of the draft it would speed things up (maybe 1week prior). Usually what happens is someone is on the clock and they spend a lot of time trying to trade but nothing ever gets done and it holds up the draft. Just my opnion

I like Justin's idea of allowing the trading to happen a week prior to the draft.

The only problem right now with that is that we don't have the staff/Roster Managers in place to take care of the demands that would put on us, which is why I said I don't think it's a possibility for THIS year if it passes. But if it does and goes well, it's a possibility for the future. And I agree that I would like to see it that way, I just don't think it's possible this late in the game for two weeks from now (or thereabouts).
Think about it: the roster managers have to purge every team of their 0y players, process any re-signings and trades (some of whom are also on the TRC and have to vote on the trades too), all while running their own teams. Forget about the complications of having to create an infrastructure of housing those picks on each team's roster page to keep track of them for the accounting purposes of being able to trade beforehand. Bottom line, if I thought we could do that this year, I would be totally on board with you all, but I can say for myself at least (though I can't speak for Mett, Goose or Matt, who has processed a few transactions recently), that I don't currently have the extra time to do any of that. So if it does pass and someone wants to volunteer to do those things, be my guest.

I would do my best to keep up with it, but it would be nice to have some help.

Here is my take on everything. I think trading the UFA draft picks is a good idea and that the picks should "NEVER" be put on a teams roster. The reason Mike did not allow the trading of the picks is exactly the reason you stated is that it put too much burden on the roster manager "ME" to process everything that was going on. We had a lot more activity in that league than this league and would of taken up a lot of time to process the trades and keep up with the draft board. The UFA draft board should be set up now and if the someone wants to trade a pick before the draft I think that is a good idea as the trade will be kept tracked of on the Draft Board. There is no reason not to have the Draft Board setup as the draft order was finalized once the season was over.

Mett you have been on top of all the roster moves, if we would like to allow trading before the UFA draft I will also do my best to help out as long as I am not traveling for work.

OK all of the draft boards are created. I even created an Alpha Draft Board for league managers to keep track of picks as best as possible. Maybe we should also put a separate folder in the approved trades area that is just for UFA picks traded so it is easy to find the trades. This way if there is any questions about who has what pick and how they got it then we can easily find it. This is just a thought.

Hey Chris I'd be willing to help out with processing trades and roster transactions to ease the burden on some of the other owners.

Okay Justin. I'll try to remember to get you set up tonight, or if another LM sees this and know how do set him up for these privileges and has the time, feel free to do so.

I will be able to assist with processing the UFA trades and other roster transactions. My laptop was out of service for a bit and I just got it fixed. Trying to process transactions on an IPad is tough lol.
