I know this isn’t the place to post this, however, this is under open discussion thread... so here goes.
Everyone wants a active league. I would like to see future Draft Picks released sooner then they have been in the past. Maybe teams you’re talking about would have done something with their picks? If they are sitting on a high cap or no room, a future pick could make some movement.
There, that’s my idea: release the 2020 Picks (both FA and Rookie) prior to the 2019 FA Draft.

This is a very interesting thought JR. We will discuss it and go from there. Thank you for your suggestion. Just in case it gets to this point, if DET or NE do not make an attempt to draft or pass their 2nd rd pick, or talk to a LM about their plan, they will forfeit their 3rd round draft pick automatically per rules. cantondynastyleague.proboards.com/post/1754

I sent Goose a message last night regarding my missed pick. I've been working alot lately and just missed it. I don't have cap and intended to try to trade it as I'll try to do with the other 2 rounds as nd hold off for rookie pucks to fill roster and cap

It's certainly worth discussing. But, I think the reason not to do it that we have come up with in the past is that teams that generally are a revolving door would be further hurt by idiot owners who trade their picks away. I can't say I would be opposed as an owner to a team being able to trade more future picks away, but as a league member/manager, I think it would make it harder for the league on a number of levels.
1. It's a pain to have to replace people, as anyone who has done it before knows. I feel like this would only create more of those situations, or if not more, more severe ones. At least now, bad owners can only screw their team for one year further down the road before a LM or other temporary owner can get the ship pointed in the right direction for another owner. It would also make those teams harder to fill and attract future owners to if a team has traded away too many future assets, but has nothing to show for it. I think if we did this, as a league (Or LMs), we would have to decide/develop a time to step in and replace owners who may still be active (Unlikely), but were running their team into the ground.
2. Every new team wants to come in and compete right away (Almost always to their own detriment). That's why I always advise the new owners I bring in (Or have the chance to talk to) to look at Cecil's roster. I tell them, almost every year since I've been in, he has the best roster in the league, and if you think you're beating that year-1, you're delusional. After all, I can only think of 2-3 truly contending teams whose owners stepped away in league history (Not counting Mike and Jake, who were kicked out by us moving leagues). And if they're taking over one of those teams, most of the same pieces are in place from the year before. So I tell those teams to look where that team finished last year, and ask them, do you really think with these players/this team that finished so poorly last year, that you can beat the best team in the league? And still, many of them try to. So I think the incidence of this would rise if teams could chase the title (In their minds) with more future assets.
3. (And this is just an ancillary concern) It would make it harder on roster managers to maintain multiple future draft boards, both for accuracy and time.
But, I'm also all for fun in this league. After all, that's why we all do it, right? So I'm all for as few rules/restrictions as we can have while still maintaining a functional league. It just needs to be considered further. Maybe there's a compromise in there to be had. I think one year ahead before the drafts occur is probably safe. I just don't want to see us getting 3, 4, even 5 years down the pike without discussing and studying the implications more. Great idea J.R.!

I can see concerns where a GM could ruin a team quickly by trading away their future. However, I believe in our TRC controlling that. Work added to LMs, not sure that would be a overbearing load added.
I think we’re all playing both the short and long game here. We all play futures everytime we grab (Draft, Claim or Trade for) a player.
Back to the topic of ‘Passing’ Picks, it has been brought up where teams should pass on a pick if they didn’t want to use one? Should a team help speed up a Draft by saying ‘PASS’, does that not mean they forfeit all remaining picks?

No it does not mean that. They would still be able to use their remaining pick in the 3rd round.

Or will we wait another twelve hours for him in the third?

He loses his 3rd if he does not make his pick by the end of the round.
